Full Design
Below are the 3 Stages of a Full Landscape Design Package. Depending on the complexity of the job, different stages of design are necessary. At the end of each stage, we will meet and discuss if the next stage is required. This option is required for gardens that contain more than just garden beds and have more detail in their design.
CONCEPT DESIGN (1)
This Design Package starts at $4000.00+gst. Depending on the size of the garden and the complexity of the design (pools, features, decks, etc), it may vary. Some much larger properties and very complex designs may exceed this amount.
Providing the vision, ideas, look, feel and schematics for your garden. This option is necessary where the garden design is more complex and a more detailed design is required. Further Details may be needed for some Hard Landscaping elements such as decks, pergolas, feature walls, sculptural elements, planting plans, etc. in the next stage of design.
Includes:
- Site visit and measure up or confirmation of supplied site plan PDF
- Create Site Plan specific for the Landscape Design
- Preliminary Concept Design based on clients Checklist and preliminary consultation
Concept Images: to illustrate the proposed themes or styles of the spaces and materials to help visualise the design
Proposed material options noted on plan
- Meeting or phone chat to discuss Preliminary Design and revisions required. Confirmation to proceed with a Final Concept Design.
One revision is allowed. If you require additional changes, we will quote to you prior to commencement.
- Final Concept Drawing to Scale of all garden areas, hard landscaping and garden features, and plantings. Includes:
Concept Schematics – sketches to help visualize the design in elevation if required
Mood board explaining Design aspects
Planting Palette/Framework, List and Images of key Species and Planting themes. We try to keep our plantings organic and do not require a detailed planting plan and schedule to plant our gardens.
Proposed Hard landscaping materials indicated on plan
- Set out plan suitable for construction by our team. Note: other contractors may require further details. These are done at an hourly rate of $150/hr if required.
- Meeting or phone chat to discuss Concept Design and Confirmation of Commencement of Stage 2: Details if required
- These fees also include relevant correspondence throughout this stage of design and during the construction of the house.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT/DETAILS (2)
Hourly rate of $150.00/hr OR set fee for all items (starting at $4,000+gst)
This stage of the design package is required when more detail is necessary. The cost is usually about the same as Stage 1, if all elements listed below are required.
Our team does not always require Design Details to construct our gardens and may only need specific elements drawn up into Details to quote and construct the garden. Particularly where there are complex Hard Landscaping elements that require further consideration of materials and building codes. If using another Landscaping Contractor or a Builder working on the house, they will require more specific Details to ensure the integrity of the design is maintained and correct materials and techniques specified are used.
Fine tuning the Design and materials, details, and project specifications.
Includes:
Scaled Plan detailing developed Concept Design for Construction – showing offsets and measurements
Cross sections and Section Elevations, and Details as required
Detailed Planting Plan and Schedule with location, species, sizes and quantities – required where another contractor will be planting the garden
Irrigation Specification
Lighting Specification
Hard Landscaping Specification for all the built or constructed elements and hard surfaces
Soft Landscaping Specification for all components of garden beds, planting, and mulching.
Furnishing specification for all pots, furniture, and outdoor furnishing
Meeting or phone chat to present and discuss the Design Documentation and confirm any Technical Drawings that may be needed
TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION (3)
Hourly Rate $150 + GST
Drawing up the Working Drawings/Construction Plans suitable for Tendering or Specific works by other contractors, and for any Permit Applications as required by council. At present, this stage is done by our resident Landscape Architect if required. Or by the current Project Architect designing the house. These drawings usually require programs such as Rhino or AutoCAD but can also be done by hand.
Only required if another Contractor will be constructing the garden and requires even further details than Stage 2. Usually only needed where there are elements such as pergolas, outdoor rooms, pools, or large decks, etc. due to the need for relevant permits and the associated working drawings for construction. These are required by councils and Building Surveyors and often require a registered builder.
We do not submit Permit Applications for our clients, but we can advise you of how to do this yourself either as Owner/Builder (recommended), or through a registered builder if required.
